Opposites Really Do Attract

The past couple of months, Meran and I have been doing premarital counseling.  In doing so, we have done a bunch of personality type indicators.  The idea is to give us a good idea of what the other person will be thinking and why they act in certain ways in certain situations.

I always knew that we were rather different (I’ve even joked to others saying she is my complete opposite). She enjoys and craves people, I don’t. She is very perceptive, I am not. I am very logical, she isn’t. etc…   But something hit me when I was going over a specific indicator.  We really are exactly opposite in our personalities.  We are very different on the surface and how we interact with others.

While our differences can cause some concern, as long as we learn to become a single unit, we can support each other.  She helps me be perceptive when I miss things, I help her think things through logically. etc…

So while we are very different on the surface, at the core, we are very similar. We have the same desire to help people. We have the same faith. etc…  We just go about expressing those things differently. Yes we will have to learn to deal with the other person/our thoughts when they just don’t understand what we are thinking. But I think that our core similarities are what really matter. And that’s why I think we work great for each other.
