Idaho

Meran and I are happily settling into our new location in north Idaho.  We are staying at Meran’s parents house located a couple miles outside Clark Fork.  It is very quiet here.  We see deer just about every day in the field in front of the house.  I very quickly adjusted to the change of lifestyle and don’t currently have any desire to live in the big city.
We both are now employed in Sandpoint (about 30 min drive from Clark Fork). Meran had a job lined up before we moved working as a receptionist for an insurance sales company called GITW Benefits.  I have now found work at a local healthcare provider called Kaniksu Health Services.  I support the internal staff with all their computer related needs.  Our commute is quite nice. Meran and I get to drive together into town where I drop her off and then go to my job.  We spend the time listening to audio books and enjoying the scenery along lake Pend Oreille.

Meran’s parents came home from being on the road for several months (Dave sells insurance and is always traveling. June has been traveling with Dave now that all their kids have moved out of the house.)  While they were here, they caught up on some things including burning a LARGE brush pile from a logging operation done over the summer.  The pile of small branches and rotten logs was literally 30 feet high.  Huge flames. Biggest fire I have ever seen.

As a sence of scale, the larger “sticks” that can be seen are well over 12″ thick
Dave was throwing in branches that didn’t quite make it into the pile

I was concerned with the fire getting out of control but as Dave told me and I have now learned, “You couldn’t burn down the forest with napalm”. In other words, it is rather wet here.  The same day Dave and June left, my parents came to visit.  I showed my parents around the area, where we work and some of the remains of the burn pile.  We also visited a local fish hatchery.

My mom was rather impressed by the pile of ash.
Even though Meran and I will not be with either of our families this Thanksgiving, we will be spending it with a friend and their family.  Our friend’s family will actually be coming over to our place as it is larger than any of their options.  So we will have a full house with close to 20 adults plus children.
Meran has been editing together videos of our travel as she has time. She has posted a couple on her new facebook page. More to come there soon.
Hopefully, I start posting more regularly…
